All things Nottingham - Part 2

Today I visited Spinster's Emporium situated just near the train station. Full of lovely vintage fabrics, wallpaper, buttons and trimmings. Perfect for anyone feeling crafty, and they run workshops! In a fantastic studio space with a cafe downstairs (Fentiman's lemonade? Don't mind if I do...). Go see! X

New Work

Using my new camera to try and get some pictures of my latest work. The light was bad so had to use the flash not sure this has worked all too well. Still far better quality than what I could achieve on my previous camera. If anyone has any shooting tips for detail design work I'd be happy to hear them!

Embroidery done using my beloved Irish machine, worked on top of a printed fabric, with layers or lace and tulle. X

All things Nottingham - Part 1

At long last I have flown the nest and landed myself in Nottingham. Not the biggest, boldest move as I did spend my student days here, but it does bring back lots of good memories. I am getting myself settled into my new flat, it is small but oh so perfectly formed, pictures soon, promise!

So here begins a series of posts about all things Nottingham, well all my favourites at least, number one being Le Chien et Moi, the most enticing shop in the city! Full of beautiful and unusual pieces (and resident Bassett Hound - Mulberry). My favourite piece from this week's visit... a stuffed Jay of course! If you're in the city do pay a visit, and if not visit their fantastic website here. X

Antique Emporium Find

A pair of lovely brass pheasants, one for my new Nottingham flat, one for home in the Shire. X

1. Be a better blogger! So I've had a little redesign, I have a new camera, now it's time to get posting!

2. Be more creative. Enter Hand and Lock competition this year (details to follow!)

3. Read more! Attempt to read some classics. Maybe buy the paper once in a while!

4. Be tidy. Moving into my new flat on the 4th January, must. keep. tidy.

5. Look after my skin

6. Get a super hot bod. Or at least try.

7. Keep in touch with friends. Too many of my favourite live in other parts of the country, and some very dear friends on the other side of the world. The internet makes it so easy to keep in touch, must make the most of it.

8. Travel. I bought my friend a fab scratch map for Christmas (get yours here) and my mum liked it so much she bought me one too. Not only do I want to see the world.... I want to scratch some new places off my map!

Happy New Year everyone!
